50+ management students under the mentorship of Prof. Rubina Mohd and Dr. Padma Singhal, visited Silvassa primarily to have an insight of manufacturing operations at Nilkamal Industries.
Nilkamal Limited is the world's largest manufacturer of moulded furniture and Asia's largest processor of plastic moulded products. Founded in 1981, it is a INR 21.65 billion conglomerate. Our students got a chance to meet Quality Assessment Manager who told them about the overall process on making a plastic chair, carats (boxes) and tables. Different dyes, machines and quality check unit and process were also introduced to the students.
The key learning included
• how manufacturing unit coordinates with distribution channel to meet demand
• optimum management of inventory, production and demand
•Japanese rules and techniques adopted in the manufacturing and production processes.
